How to Download Videos & GIFs from X (Twitter) in HD
Downloading Media from X (Twitter)
Twitter (now X) is the fastest place on the internet for breaking news, viral memes, and sports highlights. However, the platform is notorious for not providing a native "Save Video" button. If you see a funny GIF or a news clip, saving it requires a workaround.
Why Can't I Just Right-Click?
Twitter uses a technology called HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) to deliver videos. Instead of a single MP4 file, the video is broken into hundreds of tiny chunks (.ts files). Right-clicking only gives you the option to save a web page or an image frame.
The Easiest Way to Save Twitter Videos
Using an automated conversion tool is the only way to stitch those tiny chunks back into a playable MP4 file.
- Find the Tweet containing the video or GIF.
- Click the Share icon at the bottom of the tweet and select Copy link to post.
- Navigate to the X (Twitter) Downloader.
- Paste the URL and select your desired quality. Our engine automatically stitches the HLS stream into a beautiful 720p or 1080p MP4.
What About GIFs?
Fun fact: Twitter doesn't actually use the .gif format for animated images; they convert them to MP4 videos to save bandwidth! Our tool will download these "GIFs" as high-quality MP4 files, which you can easily share in WhatsApp or iMessage.
